Opportunities in India’s Orange Economy: Media, Gaming, and More
India is poised to harness its orange economy as a driver of sustainable growth, with the government committing $1 billion to a creative economy fund and establishing the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Mumbai.
Announced by PM Narendra Modi at the WAVES summit in May 2025, this initiative aims to elevate the sector, which already contributes $30 billion to GDP and employs 8% of the workforce.
The orange economy, encompassing creativity, culture, and intellectual property, is projected to grow India’s media and entertainment industries to over $100 billion in a decade.
Despite opportunities in media, gaming, and foodtech, challenges like weak IP enforcement and limited rural digital access persist.
This fusion of creativity and technology signals a transformative economic future.
